AlDente overview

AlDente allows you to limit your MacBook from charging above a certain percentage. This will not only decrease Battery wear but also increase longevity of your Battery.

Features:
  • Charge Limiter allows you to set your maximum charging percentage between 20 and 100 percent. You can either set it by using the slide bar or by typing in the desired percentage in the field above and pressing enter afterwards.
  • Discharge - This feature allows your MacBook to run completely on Battery even if it is plugged in. Therefore, you can actively discharge your MacBook to a more healthy percentage. Unfortunately, while Discharge is activated, clamshell mode is not supported due to technical limitations.

AlDente comes in two service levels: Free and Pro. Compare the plans.

What’s new in version 1.28.6

All
  • Fixed a bug that caused the popover window to not get focused correctly.
  • Fixed a bug that made changing the charge limit via text input impossible.
Pro
  • Updated the Paddle SDK to fix some users' issues: the Pro license would be deactivated at every start of AlDente. For users who have experienced this bug, it is possible that they will experience this issue once more after the update because the license file needs to be repaired. It will be resolved afterward.
  • Fixed a bug that caused the macOS percentage readout to not display the correct value in some cases.
  • The "Time to full" readout dynamically changes to "Time remaining" when the MacBook discharges.

Been using it for almost 2 years, very useful app, keeps the mac always charged without impacting the battery. One of the best utilities to use for my MacBook

I paid for this is a terrific app, and it works exactly as described, has a great interface, and gets updated regularly. Holds my MacBook Pro battery at my preferred 70%, and works remarkably well considering the trickiness of operating with Apple's protections and restrictions. Ignore the dorky complaints about it not working during an update – first of all, who cares? It won't kill your battery to get fully charged once-in-a-while; this is utility that protects your battery in the long-term. Secondly, of course it's not going to work when it's not running. I wish there was an iOS version for my iPhone and iPad!

I own the 'Pro' versions of both AlDente and BatFi (for roughly $10 each, I'm more than happy to support the developers). Even though AlDente has more features (and I bought it first), I now use BatFi for the simple reason that I much prefer the UI.

It's a good app, but licensing makes it unusable for me; I often spend weeks without an internet connection, and unless you have internet, every 30 days, the software I paid for will stop working. If you leave on a two-week trip on the 29th day, you won't have Aldente working till you get back not a good system, especially for a lost cost app like Aldente.
