AlDente overview
AlDente allows you to limit your MacBook from charging above a certain percentage. This will not only decrease Battery wear but also increase longevity of your Battery.
Features:
- Charge Limiter allows you to set your maximum charging percentage between 20 and 100 percent. You can either set it by using the slide bar or by typing in the desired percentage in the field above and pressing enter afterwards.
- Discharge - This feature allows your MacBook to run completely on Battery even if it is plugged in. Therefore, you can actively discharge your MacBook to a more healthy percentage. Unfortunately, while Discharge is activated, clamshell mode is not supported due to technical limitations.

The free version of AlDente is stated to allow one to set a charge limit below 100%. That's all I require, I set it to 77%. Yet, this application consistently fails to curtail the charging process. My 16" MacBook Pro M4 (Identifier Mac16,4) running Sequoia always charges fully to 100%.
On the other hand, my Wife's MBP M3 (Identifier Mac15,3) running Sonoma, with AlDente installed – successfully limits its charge every time.
So, this user's experience is mixed. I've been using (& maintaining) a generous collection of Macs for 35 years. I don't understand this inconsistency in effectiveness. If anyone has a comment, I'd love to hear it.

Editor. Happy user here.... Fix the price mentioned in MU for this product, which is not 119.88! The versions range from Free to $24.99 for a lifetime license, with intermediates for subscription.

After installing the AIDente app, my new laptop’s performance has significantly deteriorated. The battery now drains completely within 3-4 hours, whereas it used to last up to 18 hours before the installation. I don’t see any option on your website to return and feel stuck with this issue.

Love all of the features and how clear everything is for the user. However, it'd be nice if there was more customizability in the popover bar in terms of the amount of different things you can configure. It'd also be nice if there were widgets, maybe taking things from the dashboard and making them able to be turned into widgets on the desktop.
